Windows 10 Keyboard Shortcuts Cheatsheet is Here !

Windows 10 comes with a few new keyboard shortcuts to take advantage 
of new features like the virtual desktop and the action center. Here’s a
 handy table of shortcuts you might not know about yet. You’re probably 
familiar with some of these from previous versions of Windows, but even 
still I found this a good refresher and reference guide.

This guide lists shortcut keys that you can use from the desktop in 
Windows 10. These shortcut will make your work more easier and faster.

Transfer Files And Settings From An Old PC To A New One

Moving from one PC to another, while often necessary, carries the 
same pain that comes from moving to a new house. There are so many 
things to move and you’re afraid you might lose something in the 
process, something very important might break, or you might accidentally
 leave something behind and not realize it for months until you need it.
 With the launch of Windows 10 and it’s very warm reception, Windows 
users have been upgrading to the new OS in droves. Many are utilizing 
the free upgrade and upgrading through the Media Creation Tool that 
Microsoft released. That said, there are also many users who will be 
upgrading their laptops simply because the old ones are too old and will
 not be compatible with the new operating system. To help ease the 
transition, Microsoft has partnered with LapLink to bring you their PC 
Mover tool for free. Here’s where you can get it, and how you can use it
 to transfer your files and settings from an old computer to a new one.

Pre-requisites and Limitations</h3>
<ul>
<li>You must be running Windows XP or above</li>
<li>You can use the tool to move to any PC running Windows XP or above</li>
<li>Your email address will be required during installation and during the file transfer process</li>
<li>You must have both your old and new laptops/PCs on hand</li>
<li>Both the new and old PCs must be connected to the same WiFi network</li>
<li>You can use this app for free from September 1, 2015 to August 31, 2016</li>
</ul>
Step 1: Install PC Mover on both your old and new PC.

Step 2: First things first; open the app on your old PC. It’s worth noting here that this app will not
 transfer your apps to the new PC. If you would like it to do that, you 
will have to upgrade it. This partnership with Microsoft is limited to 
the safe transfer of files and settings. On your old PC, identify that 
it is the old one.

Step 3: When prompted to select the transfer method, choose WiFi network.

Step 4: Allow the app to analyze files. This can take up to thirty minutes.

Step 5: Once PC Mover is done analyzing files, it 
will ask you to take action on your new PC. Hopefully, you’ve already 
installed the app on it and you’re ready for the next step.

Step 6: All steps from this point forward will be 
done on the new PC. Open the PC Mover app on your new PC and identify it
 as the new one.

Step 7: Sign in to the app using the same email address you used on your old PC.

Step 9: Locate your old PC. The app will be able to 
do this automatically since both the PCs are running PC Mover and are on
 the same WiFi network. If the app fails to correctly identify your old 
PC, use the Browse button to manually locate it.

Step 10: A bit more analysis is required.

Step 11: Choose what you want to transfer from OneDrive.

Step 12: Review what’s being transferred. By 
default, PC Mover will move files from all your drives on the old PC to 
the new one. It will move them for a single user that’s signed in 
currently on your old PC. You can select other user accounts from the 
‘User Account Selections’ button. You can see which drives are being 
transferred from the ‘Drive Selection’ button and you can exclude files 
from entire drives being transferred to the new PC from the Folder 
Filters and File Filters buttons. Click Next when you’re ready. The app 
will analyze how long the transfer will take (I got 9 hours).

Step 13: Say no to all this if you aren’t a fan of Bing, One Drive, and Office 365.

Step 14: Begin transfer. Leave your old and new PCs running overnight and let the app take care of the rest.

Nine to twelve hours later and you’re all done

How To Move To iOS From An Android Device With Apple’s App

A while back Google made it easier for anyone tired of their iPhone to <a href="https://www.android.com/switch/">switch to an Android</a> device.
 There is an official page that helps you move your data from an iOS 
device to an Android device and make the transition as painless as 
possible. On September 9, 2015 Apple at its iPhone event fired back and 
announced an app called Move to iOS. It’s the first 
(and possibly last) Android app that the company has ever built and the 
names pretty much says what it does; it helps you move from an Android 
device to an iPhone. Since iPhones work differently than Android devices
 you might be wondering just how the whole move works. Here’s how.

On Your Android Phone

Download Move to iOS from the Google Play Store and launch it. Make 
sure your device is fully charged or connected to a power source. Make 
sure it has an active and stable network connection.

On Your iPhone

Power on your iPhone and (we’re assuming it’s new) register your 
device. Connect with a WiFi network. You can choose to skip the Apple ID
 part since it’s not needed to transfer data. Next, in the Set-up 
options, the iPhone will ask if you want to set it up as a new device or
 restore it from a backup, or Move Data from Android. Tap this last 
option and on the next screen, tap Continue.

On Your Android & iPhone

On your iPhone (left screenshot), you will be see a code that you 
need to enter on your Android device (right screenshot) in the Move to 
iOS app.

After that, this screen will appear on your iPhone and Android device, respectively;

The data will be transferred over the internet so make sure both 
devices are connected to a strong one, and wait for transfer to 
complete.

How To Sideload Apps In Windows 10

Microsoft has finally seen the utility an app store; a certified 
place where users of its desktop and/or mobile operating system can find
 apps that are safe to download and do not come packaged with bloatware.
 An official app store helps developers as much as it helps ordinary 
users since it gives them a place that many users will turn to when 
searching for an app. They audience they get can help introduce their 
seemingly obscure apps. That said, Windows users are in a transition 
phase; we love the Windows Store but we’re not quite used to being 
limited to one place for installing our apps. Anyone who wants to 
sideload a modern app will be met with a bit of a snag since Windows 10,
 by default, doesn’t let you do so. Fortunately, it hasn’t blocked that 
ability and for whatever reason you might have to sideload an app, 
here’s how to do it.

Open the Settings app and go to the Update & Security group of 
settings. In the For Developers tab, select the ‘Sideload apps’ option. 
You will get an on-screen alert warning you that this might put you at 
risk (more on that later). To proceed, click Yes in the warning box.

So the question is, what are you risking here? The answer is you’re 
putting yourself at the same risk that you do when you install an app 
from an ‘unknown publisher’. Does that sound familiar to you because it 
should. Apps are signed by developers and developers (the good ones) 
will register with Microsoft so that they get a pass during 
installation. When you install a non-Modern app, Windows checks to see 
who the publisher is. If the app hasn’t been signed, it warns you of the
 same. When you sideload an app in Windows 10, you’re putting yourself 
at more or less this very same risk.

Pin Your Favorite Websites To The Windows 10 Start Menu

A few days ago we touched on how you can <a href="http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/pin-frequently-accessed-settings-to-the-start-menu-in-windows-10/">pin your frequently used settings to the Start Menu</a> in
 Windows 10. Doing so makes for faster access and will obviously be a 
time saver while you get used to the new Settings app. For those of you 
who have been keeping up with news about Windows 10, you might know that
 Internet Explorer as we know it is no more. When it ships at the end of
 July, Windows 10 will come with the new rebranded and much improved 
Edge browser (previously called Project Spartan). The new browser comes 
with lots of great new features including one that lets you pin you 
favorite apps to the Start Menu, much like you can with settings. Here’s
 how it works.

This is purely an Edge feature so websites can only be pinned, and 
opened, in Edge. Launch Edge and navigate to your favorite 
website. Click the more options button and select ‘Pin to Start’.

Open the Start Menu and scroll to the bottom. All new website tiles 
are added to the very end. They appear with the website’s favicon. It’s a
 tile so you can drag & drop to reposition it. You can sort it into a
 group and even set the size to either small or medium. The tiles not 
only show the favicon but are also colored with the main color the 
website’s theme follows.

The only downside here is that you have to click the tile, or it has 
to be the Medium size for the website’s name to appear on it as well. If
 you don’t recognize a website’s favicon or it doesn’t load properly 
when sent to the Start Menu, identifying the tile will be a problem. If 
the favicon doesn’t load, remove the tile and try saving it again.

Install An App APK On Your Android Device From The Desktop [Windows]

One of the things I’m most envious about when it comes to Android is 
the ability to initiate an app download from the desktop version of the 
Google Play store and remotely install an app to any Android device 
associated with my account. I would kill to have something like that on 
iOS. Pure APK Install is a new Windows app from Pure 
APK; a service that lets you download app APKs from the Google Play 
store. The app works independently of its own service and lets you 
install any APK file on your system to your Android device. You don’t 
need root access and you can choose whether an app is installed to the 
external storage or the device’s internal memory. For anyone who has 
trouble downloading and installing apps on their device, Pure APK 
Install is a simple solution.

Download the app and install it. It doesn’t try to sneak in anything 
extra so you can just click Next and Install when you see it. Once 
installed, click the Open APK file button and choose the APK file that 
you want to install.

Next, connect your device to your PC via the data cable and make sure
 you have USB debugging enabled. Additionally, make sure the device is 
not locked. If the device is locked or the screen is asleep, you will 
not be able to install an app to it.
